1901-1910
- During the Brigade's first decade, many founding leaders laid the groundwork for future success. The influence of S.F Shattuck and others contributed to the start of many new Brigade programs including a new camp on the Chain of Lakes in Waupaca, Wisconsin called Onaway Island.
- 1903- Camp Chapin was founded on the East shore of Lake Winnebago in Stockbridge. Camps were held there through 1905.
- 1904- S.F. Shattuck took over the Brigade leadership role from Dr. Chapin. "Mr. Shattuck emphasized simplicity of organization, promotion of character building with less emphasis on uniform and military nomenclature."
- 1904- Shattuck established a uniform similar to the uniform worn today, a navy blue sweater with badges.
- January 22, 1904- First formal anniversary banquet was celebrated at the Brigade.
- 1904- First Brigade international trip. Shattuck and several others traveled to England, but little is known about where they visited on the trip.
- 1906- Under the leadership of S.F. Shattuck, camps were brought to a new location in the Wisconsin Dells. This was before most of the nature was destroyed by the dam and other construction in the city.
- 1907- Brigaders hiked 17.5 miles from Fremont to the Columbian Lake Camp on the Chain O' Lakes. During the occupation of the camp, the Brigaders discovered a deserted island on Rainbow Lake. This island was known as Juniper Island.
- 1908-1911- The owners of Juniper Island gave the Brigade permission to bring boys to the island for a week of summer camp. Brigaders slept in tents and had to carry all camping equipment to the camp site. The island was overgrown with weeds and invasive plants, so S.F. Shattuck asked to purchase the island in order to make it more fit for camping. He purchased it from John W. Brown in 1911.
