1931-1940
- January, 1930-Mr. Shattuck wrote a letter to the stockholders of the Onaway Camping Association which included financial statements for 1927, 1928, and 1929. He said that they needed to make Onaway sustainable and that Shattuck couldn't fund the program forever.
- Some performances that the Brigade leaders and boys staged were:
-Barnyard Frolics (1933-1934)
-Amateur Broadcasting Night (1934-1935)
-Greater Second Brigade Circus and Slideshow (1935-1936)
-Brigade Showboat (Minstrel Show) (1934-1937)
- January, 1932- Electricity was installed in the W.A. Sturgis farm cabin; this made the cabin less of a fire hazard from kerosene lamps. The cabin was unsuccessful and was abandoned in 1937.
- 1933- Between four hundred and five hundred costumes were bought for $75 from Ringling Bros Circus that were used in the Brigade circuses until the mid-1950s
- 1934- Lyall Stilp was elected as Captain of the Boys' Brigade. His first action as Captain was to eliminate the seven year, single leader for each group. This brought many fine men into active leadership.
- 1938- Stilp accepted Bob Erdmann as Ma's assistant during one week of Brigade Camp.
- 1937- A fire destroyed the Methodist Church and Wesley Hall.
- 1938- Plans were made for a Quonset-like gymnasium that would extend westward from the rear of the creamery building. A new gymnasium/drill hall cost $32,000 and replaced the old gym.
- 1940- Brigade's 40th anniversary.
Onaway
- 1931- All-Around Best Camper Award started. In the late 1930s, competitions and a system of awards were created. The awards were given for the competitions won throughout the week of camp.
- 1933-The island obtained electricity which allowed an electric pump to be installed for drinking water and the kitchen was equipped with modernized equipment and electric lights.
- 1938- Tribal chiefs were selected from among the older campers.
